Insania crowds welcome Peter

A record crowd gathered in Spalding to see Peter Andre switch on the Christmas lights at Springfields.

Around 6,000 people travelled to the centre for the Thursday evening event where the singer and TV presenter joined Heart FM’s Kev and Ros on stage.

Father Christmas also made an early visit to South Holland to take part in the festivities.

“We saw our highest daily footfall to the centre for three years and a record-breaking 6,000 visitors after 6pm, an increase of more than 30 per cent on last year’s event,” said Simon Stone, retail director at Springfields Outlet.

“The recent additions of Joules, White Stuff and The Cosmetic Company bolstered the reason to come and we have more exciting openings in the pipeline,” he added.

The crowds also enjoyed free entertainment throughout the evening including performances from

Holbeach Town Band and St Paul’s Community School Choir.

Hundreds of fans also had the chance to meet Peter Andre and take selfies with him.

The events keep coming for Springfields with the annual Firework and Music Extravaganza is due to be held tonight. This year celebrates 100 years of the Royal Air Force.

The doors open at 6pm with the fireworks planned for 8pm. All the stores will remain open to 9pm.

Tickets are £8 for adults and £5 for children.

Christmas late night shopping begins at the centre on Monday, November 19 with stores open to 9pm to Friday, December 21.
