Disillusioned Holbeach United boss Danny Hussey ripped into his side after seeing them humbled 3-1 at Oadby Town on Tuesday night.

The Tigers were soundly beaten by their Leicestershire hosts at Freeway Park despite a consolation goal from Spencer Tinkler, as their hopes of a top four finish in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division continue to fade.

Although they have a UCL Knockout Cup final to look forward to at the end of the season, boss Hussey reckons that his side have downed tools and admits that he’s now facing something of a reluctant rebuilding job in the summer.

“I might as well play the reserves or the young lads if this is the kind of performance we’re going to produce,” barked the Tigers chief. “I really don’t know what has happened in the past few games.

“The vast majority of the lads didn’t seem interested and we were well beaten.

“Maybe three or four of them did well, but that’s it. Credit to Jonny Lockie, he was a shining light for us on the night.

“A few weeks ago I was looking at the team and thinking I didn’t have much work to do in the transfer market over the summer.

“Now I look at what is happening and I think I’ll probably need as many as eight new players.

“I just don’t get it. We’ve got a cup final coming up and you’d think that they would want to nail down a shirt for that game.

“One thing I expect as a bare minimum is for everyone to work hard. They just didn’t do that for me and we got what we deserved.

“We made costly mistakes for the goals, too. Tom Smith made a rash decision early on in conceding a penalty that they scored form, then Luke Avis was caught on the ball for their third.

“Our goal was nothing more than a consolation. It just wasn’t good enough.”

Meanwhile, Hussey has been found not guilty by a Lincs FA panel after been reported for his actions following Holbeach’s derby draw with Boston Town in February.

He was accused of swearing at an official, but Hussey – who claimed he was assaulted by one of the referees’ assistants – has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

He added: “It was nice to see justice being served. That’s not usually the case in these kind of hearings, but I’m pleased to be found not guilty.”

Next up for Holbeach is a home date with table-topping Daventry Town on Saturday (3pm).

Tigers: Drury, Harker (Hamilton), T Smith, Braithwaite, Clay, Jackson, Avis (Bird), Tinkler, Tricks (Davies), Ford, Lockie.
