Harrison runs in four tries as Spalding RFC secure bonus-point win over Bakewell

Spalding RFC made it back-to-back wins in Midlands Two East (North) for the first time this season as they battered Bakewell Mannerians 57-8 on Saturday.

Skipper Sam Cooke had called for his Town side to deliver a bonus-point win against the basement boys – and they did just that, with Harry Harrison helping himself to a four of the nine tries.

Josh Broome, Harry Brown, Ash Anker, Kier Moore and George Douglas ran in the other scores for the mighty Elephants, who have now managed three wins this season.

Had they lost, Spalding would have spent Christmas bottom of the table. But they are now just six points behind eighth-placed Mansfield and are back on target to achieve their goal of mid-table in what is a transitional season.

Town now have two weeks without a game, with their next outing a trip to leaders Dronfield on January 9.

See www.spaldingvoice.co.uk for a full report from the Bakewell win early next week.
