Gardening gloves at the ready to muck in with Big Co-op Clean events

Lincolnshire Co-op is asking for volunteers to muck in and help spruce up some nature spots and environmental projects.

Long Sutton Primary School is one of the locations for this year’s Big Co-op Clean.
On Thursday (June 8) between 10am and 2pm there will be gardening work in polytunnels and raised beds, and clearance of the forest area.

Colleagues from Lincolnshire Co-op will also dig in and help during the events, which start on Tuesday (June 6)
It’s part of the support being given to green space projects under Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions scheme this summer.

Senior community and education co-ordinator Ben James said: “The groups all work incredibly hard to create and grow these green spaces.
“Together, we can carry out crucial tasks and maintenance to make sure they blossom for generations to come. We’d love to see more people join in, too.

“Volunteering takes place for a few hours each day at separate locations. It doesn’t take long to register and you can do it online through Lincolnshire Co-op’s website.”

Other events taking place (10am-2pm, unless stated):
  • Tuesday, June 6: High Flight Memorial Park, Wellingore – creating pathways, trimming hedges and creating flower beds
  • Thursday, June 8: Burgh Angling and Community Nature Reserve – clearing area, maintenance work and litter picking
  • Tuesday, June 13: Centre4 in Grimsby – litter picking, clearing areas and working on a vegetable patch
