Fundraiser set up for one-year-old after dad’s murder

A fundraiser has been set up for a one-year-old whose dad was murdered last week.

Christopher Higgs (21), of Spalding, has been named as the victim of the incident which occurred at Portland Street in Boston on Wednesday, July 14.

Charlie Stevenson (20), of Portland Street, Boston, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court last Friday charged with his murder.

The Go Fund Me page for Christopher’s son Ashton was set up by Christopher’s cousin Rebecca McGhee.

It says: “A one-year-old baby who tragically lost his dad not long ago who loved and adored him.

“Sadly he will not be able to make memories with his dad so we wish to carry on his dad’s memory so he always knows how much he was loved and adored by his dad.

“He loved and idolised his daddy so much.

“The family just want to know the baby has a good future and is looked after.

“All the funds will go into a saver account for when he is old enough to get it.

“We want him to be able to be looked after when he’s older.”

The fundraiser is available here.

Lincolnshire Police have set up an Operation Luxor Portal as part of their appeal for more witness to come forward. It’s available here.

DCI Richard Myszczyszyn, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “We are still appealing for information and I’d urge anybody who hasn’t yet contacted us to please do so.

“We’d like to reassure everyone that this is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public. We are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident. We understand that this incident has caused alarm in the local area, but rest assured, we’re doing everything we can to progress the investigation.

“We are grateful to the public for their help so far.”

As well as the portal, you can provide information by ringing 101 or emailing force.control@lincs.police.uk with the incident reference number of 169 of July 14 in the subject line.
