Free safeguarding adults courses in Spalding, Boston and Grantham

Community groups are being offered free access to a course designed to help them ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities to safeguard adults form harm and abuse.

The course, delivered by Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS), is designed to empower individuals to spot possible abuse and those at risk and know what to do if they have a concern – essential knowledge for local groups who provide services for adults.

Ruth Copleston, LCVS senior community development officer, said: “Organisations working with children tend to have a vivid awareness of their protection duties but not everyone fully considers the similar when working with adults.

“This half day workshop gives an introduction to adult safeguarding including the different types of adult abuse, possible indicators and what you should do if you are concerned about an adult at risk. It also includes an overview of local procedures and other support for community organisations and charities working with adults.

Verified volunteers can access the training free, for staff in the voluntary sector it’s £10, for staff in the public sector its £20 and private sector spots are £30.
