Football round-up: Spalding United exit county cup, Pinchbeck United seen off by star

Spalding United saw their hopes of winning the Lincolnshire Senior Cup ended by a 2-1 loss at holders Cleethorpes Town on Saturday, while Pinchbeck United made a losing start to the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division season after going down 3-1 at Peterborough Northern Star on Friday night.

Starting with the Tulips, a last-gasp Alex Flett strike saw them beaten 2-1 by BetVictor NPL South East Division rivals Cleethorpes.

Scott Vernon had earlier given the hosts a half-time lead from the penalty spot, but the Tulips levelled in the second half through Lewis Brownhill.

Meanwhile, a hat-trick from Craig Smith sank Pinchbeck on Friday night. Ian Dunn’s side had levelled through Ollie Maltby, but Star were the better side on the night and were worthy 3-1 winners on the night.

More on both games to follow.
