Imitation firearm and drug charges after A16 police chase in Spalding ended by stinger device

An imitation firearm and drugs were among the finds after a 12 mile police car chase down the A16 outside Spalding was ended when a stinger device was deployed.

Tracy Hercules, age 22, of no fixed address, has been charged with dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and possession of an imitation firearm after the incident which took place around midday yesterday (March 9).

Police said he was spotted driving suspiciously and after a chase was only stopped using a stinger device.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “One of our officers pursued a silver Mercedes Benz after the driver appeared to act suspiciously after seeing the police car on blue lights.

“It appeared that the driver of the vehicle was trying to evade the police car by speeding off. 

“The pursuit was along the A16 at Surfleet and continued to the Hop Pole area. Our ARVs attended and a stinger device was used to stop the vehicle.

“Hercules, who was uninjured, was arrested after our officer carried out a search and located an imitation firearm and cannabis in the car.

“He appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on March 9. He has been released on bail until his next court hearing at a date yet to be fixed.”
