Good causes have been handed donations totalling more than £4,000 after the final call was made on long-running bingo sessions on Saturday.

Hazel Phillippo, with the help of others in the Sutton Bridge Fundraisers, has organised the bingo sessions in Sutton Bridge for almost 40 years, raising thousands of pounds for local groups.

Hazel was awarded the MBE for her fundraising efforts, which last year totalled around £11,000, but she has now called time and the final cheques have been handed out.

The causes to benefit were Long Sutton church hall (£1,000), Marie Curie Cancer Care (£1,000), St Matthew’s Drive Community Centre (£300), Long Sutton in Bloom (£500), Sutton Bridge in Bloom (£500) and Lincs/Notts Air Ambulance (£1,000).
