Emergency road closure in Spalding to last a week

An emergency closure of part of Pinchbeck Road in Spalding due to dips in the road is expected to end on Monday (May 15) following temporary repairs.

Lincolnshire County Council is working with Anglian Water to try to find the cause and a long-term solution.

A dip reappeared outside Taylors of Spalding garage in March. The road was closed on Monday (May 8) between West Elloe Avenue and Kings Road.

A highways spokesperson said: “These are temporary repairs, which we estimate will take around a week. Once this work has been done, the road can re-open until it is clear what further work is required.
“We are liaising with Anglian Water about getting it fixed permanently. Whilst the road is closed Anglian Water is placing a camera in their system to locate any problems.”

The diversion routes have caused long tailbacks of traffic, with Westlode Street and Albion Street badly affected.

How come this is now an emergency, they’ve ignored the dips for over a year at least.
