A plan of the proposed development site in Park Lane, Donington

Developer to councillors: ‘Please refuse our planning application’

A developer has invited councillors to refuse permission a planning application – to allow it a ‘free go’ at resubmitting a revised scheme

Calderdale Homes (Eastern) wants to build nine homes (seven two-bedroom and two three-bedroom) in Park Lane, Donington,

At a meeting on January 4 the planning committee deferred a decision in the hope the developer could be persuaded to amend the proposals. Councillors were particularly concerned about rear parking courts and the potential for anti-social behaviour.

The applicant’s agent has responded: “We do intend to revisit the scheme, but not under the present application.

“I should therefore be grateful if you would report the current application back to the next committee in its current format so we can have the option of lodging an appeal following the refusal.

“We will then resubmit a revised scheme as a ‘free go’. This then gives us all the reasonable options to pursue a suitable scheme on the site.”

Council officers’ recommendation to planning committee members on February 1 remains the same – to grant permission.

Also recommended for approval:

  • outline permission for 46 homes on a paddock at High Street, Gosberton, providing one-third of the site is affordable housing and a financial contribution to education is made
  • a retrospective application to breed and train hunting dogs in Dog Drove, Holbeach Drove. Up to 25 dogs will kept at the site, a report to the committee said.
