The cost of summer has hit new heights in terms of water and South Holland District Council saw a £15,000 overspend as a result.
A report to the council’s Cabinet, which met on Tuesday, says that council road sweepers had increased water consumption because of the exceptional temperatures and the result was a £15,000 overspend.
A council spokesman said it had three roadsweepers which had driven the equivalent miles as going around the world.
The Environmental Services department also generated £76,000 less than forecast from its garden waste scheme.
