Clifton glory for Gedney Hill’s Dave and Lynn

Dave Roberts and Lynn Exley took the spoils at Gedney Hill Golf Club’s Dick Clifton Memorial Trophy.

Roberts (41 points) took the spoils in the men’s category ahead of J Smith (38 points) in second and Keith Lawrence (35 points) in third.

Exley (30 points) needed countback to edge Diane Moore in second in the ladies’ event, with Jacqui Rust (27 points) third.

Ladies’ Open prizes: Nearest to the line – Jenny Venters; nearest to the pin (hole four) – Chelsea Petty; nearest to the pin (hole 11) – Kim Markillie.

• Gedney Hill duo David Lord and Rob Newns won 2up in the regional semi-final of the Howdidido Senior Men’s Pairs competition.

They will play in the regional final against representatives from Nene Park GC or Girton GC.

Should Newns and Lord win their final, the pair will then earn themselves a spot in the national finals.
