Cabbage hurling and more at Holbeach Town and Country Fayre

Holbeach Town and Country Fayre takes place next weekend and one of the main attractions is the unique cabbage hurling competition.

This annual event is a coming together of the country summer show and a classic car and vehicle show.

The event is on Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, from 10am to 5pm each day and takes place on King’s field, off Fen Road, Holbeach.

Entertainment lined up for the main arena this year consists of a falconry display, musical vehicles, owl displays, marching bands, a fun dog show and for the first time ever a recently discovered event that was thought to have died out years ago has been dusted down, updated – Tractor Wurlding – not to be missed!

The car show will offer a chance to look around collectors’ vehicles including tractors and farm machinery, classic cars, custom cars and Hot Rods, military vehicles, commercial vehicles, steam engines, motorcycles and trikes and the humble bicycle.

Sunday sees the ever popular World Cabbage Hurling for over 18s and Onion Wanging contest for those from 12 to 17 years of age going on in the main arena with teams of three required.

Admission is £5 for adults with children under 16 going free with a paying adult. This is a dog friendly event but they must be kept on a lead.
