Stallholders selling refreshments had a great day as the sun blazed at Holbeach Food Festival.

The Cask in Hand and Churchill Ciders sold out completely, while Laddies Ices had a steady stream of customers cooling off with a tasty treat.

Billy Burton Hog Roast and Grasmere Farm, which offered hot sausages and burgers, were also very busy.

Event organiser Nick Worth was delighted with the way the day went.

He said: “We had a similar number of visitors as last year but the weather made a real difference.

“People were happy to sit on the grass and relax with a drink or ice cream and enjoy the entertainment. There was a real community feel to the event.

“Rhubarb Theatre Company kept the children entertained and young band Fazed went down very well.”

The free event was held in the grounds of the William Stukeley Primary School and offered visitors the chance to sample and buy artisan and local produce from Thai starters and curried goat to homemade preserves and local honey.

Coun Worth added: “Everyone seemed to have a really good time and went away happy.

“The only thing we can improve next year is to have more tables and chairs!”
