The lit memorial on the banks of Scapa Flow Harold Payne has raised money for.

Big party invite for supporters

Veteran’s supporter Harold Payne has issued an open invite to supporters of the recent Holbeach Remembrance parade to a celeration.

Mr Payne will be hosting the event on Sunday, December 5 at his Anglia Motel in Fleet Hargate.
“Everybody who supported the parade is welcome to come along. They will need to collect a free ticket first so we know how many people there will be,” he said.
There will be refreshments and entertainment and carol singers will also be welcome to go along.
“I just want to say thanks to everyone for their support for the parade in Holbeach this year,” he said.
“I have been told it even made the news in America, which was nice,” he added.
He is already working on plans for next year’s Holbeach event and is arranging for a plane to drop a million poppies over the new memorial garden he is creating.
A new memorial has been created overlooking Scapa Flow, in the Orkney Islands in memory of three local men who died when the Royal Oak was torpedoed in 1939 and more than 800 lives were lost in total.
Mr Payne has also recently donated £4,000 to the Royal Anglian Benevolent Fund from the money he has raised and £400 to D-Day veteran Sid Barnes.
