A16 closures this week for resurfacing work

Stretches of the A16 between Spalding and Crowland roundabout will be closed overnight this week to enable resurfacing work.

Contractor Morgan Sindall will be rectifying defects that have been identified during the contractual maintenance period.

The work will be carried out overnight from Monday to Thursday.

Lincolnshire County Council says work will take place between 7pm and 7am each night, apart from Tuesday when the start will be delayed until 11pm at the request of Peterborough City Council.

However, roadside boards advise road closures from 8pm to 6am.

A council spokesman said: “The work should be completed over three nights, but a fourth night may be required if there are delays due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen problems on site.

“The road will be closed to traffic so that the works can be carried out safely and speedily. The diversion route for each night will be A1175, A15 and A47 and vice versa. Advance warning and diversion route signs will be clearly placed.

“The road will be open as normal during the day (7am to 7pm). Traffic using the B1040 (Nene Terrace Road), B1166 (Hulls Drove) and B1357 (Moulton Chapel Road) will only be permitted to cross the A16. Mill Drove North will be closed at its junction with the A16. The weight restriction on Barrier Bank will still apply so HGVs should not attempt to use this as an alternative route.

“We apologise for the inconvenience these essential repair works will cause and thank you for your co-operation.”
