100-mile cycle ride chasing the sunrise in memory of Spalding motor neurone disease victim

A second set of relatives and friends of a late Spalding man are attempting a difficult fundraising challenge in his memory.

Sisters Diane Sinclair and Christine Ambrose, nephew Jason Sinclair and his girlfriend Tara McNab will be chasing the rising sun this weekend. They will leave Hunstanton at 9.30pm on Saturday and cycle the 100 miles along coast roads to hopefully arrive in Southwold in Suffolk before the sun rises.
The fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association is in memory of Andrew Grantham, who died in 2014.

Andrew’s sister Diane said: “MND is such a terrible, debilitating disease and we want to do everything we can to help raise money for the work done by MNDA.
“They made such a difference to Andrew’s last few months, helping with equipment, including a stairlift, riser recliner chair and car hoist to enable him to get out of the house for as long as possible.
“They also helped arrange massages which eased the discomfort and helped him to relax, which was a great boost for him.”

The foursome hope to raise at least £2,000 for the charity. To donate visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/mndacoastbusters

The cycle ride follows a motorcycling challenge over Spring Bank Holiday, which raised about £1,500.

Pode Hole residents Steve (Sid) Sinclair, Ashley Sinclair and Phil Rodgers, and Will Brassington, of Moulton Seas End, completed their feat of travelling through nine European countries in 48 hours in a much quicker time than expected.

Sid said: “We did the challenge in the end in 36 hours. The biggest problem was the fuel strike in France.
“It was a great experience. The most I had ever motorcycled in a day before then was about 300 miles but the adrenaline took over.
“We did about 1,750 miles.”

The group started in England and travelled through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Austria on day one and Germany and The Netherlands on the second day.
